IWG signs first partnership in Middleburg as the demand for hybrid working continues to rise

IWG has partnered with Nungu Property Group - a Mpumalanga property expert, to open the first Regus - part of IWG - the world’s largest provider of hybrid work solutions - in Middleburg, The cultural heartland of Mpumalanga, Middleburg, serves as the agricultural, Industrial and communication centre for the surrounding area and is known as Africa's stainless steel capital.

Amidst the growing demand for hybrid work and the unprecedented need for flexibility, the partnership comes at a perfect time to provide flexible options in this growing town in a prime position at 5@Dolomite, Sanlam Centre.

The need for hybrid working spaces provides an opportunity for businesses of all sizes in and around the area that is looking for a hub and spoke option, giving their employees access to a network of local offices, whether it be business travellers, SME’s or larger corporations that have a national footprint.

Businesses are increasingly attracted by the idea of operating from spaces that don't necessitate set-up costs or capital investment whilst avoiding long-term leases. A hybrid model accommodates all employees—freely providing them with a local place to work and flexibility to work wherever is most convenient, rather than wasting valuable time on long commutes while, at the same time, reducing overhead office space.

Regus is at the forefront of a booming industry, and with 30 years of experience, it's also a company with a strong track record in office management, with over 3,500 locations worldwide. “The traditional model of pricey unused offices with companies committing to long, inflexible leases are a thing of the past, and we are seeing a shift to a hybrid and more flexible network of local offices, whilst businesses are opting for flex space where you can scale up or down as needed,” says Joanne Bushell, Md IWG Plc. South Africa.

The centre offers private office space, coworking areas, state-of-the-art meeting and interview rooms, and a lounge available to members. This all comes with high-speed Wi-Fi, is fully furnished and equipped, and can be configured to spec, with friendly, competent staff to handle requests 24/7.

Expected to open in Q2 2023, the centre is responding to the shift of workspace layouts going beyond conventional collaborative models and focusing on multi-faceted and multi-functional arrangements, which are taking the flexible working trend to the next level. In a town leading with economic activity that varies from mining, power generation, metallurgic industries, dry land and subsistence agriculture to eco-tourism, flexible offices that promote the shift to hybrid working are fast becoming a necessity.

“With multiple brands in South Africa, including Regus, Spaces and HQ, partnering with Nungu in Middleburg is the perfect example of bringing hybrid work solutions into the suburban locations and the cities and towns outside of the main metro areas where the need is growing”, adds Bushell.

The building’s surroundings make it the ideal office location for networking business opportunities, meeting breakaways and affordable offices for employees who are now migrating to a new hybrid way of working.
